DISPOSITION of ARMY EQUIPMENT

If your Post has weapons and you are considering sending your weapons back to Uncle Sam,sometimes there are problems.

In the process of closing a post in eastern New York the topic of returning their parade weapons came up.  After extensive research it was discovered that the cost was astronomical.  The post had 22 rifles and every rifle would have to be individually packaged as outlined by DOA, insured and then cleared through Homeland Security.  The approximate cost was nearly $250 per weapon and that cost varies depending on where the weapons would be shipped from.
