NATIONAL PROGRAM DEADLINES

Membership Awards

POST  100%  Award

In addition to the 100% membership streamer awarded by national, each post attaining 100% membership by May 4, 2011 will receive a 100% citation.  The first one hundred fifty posts having 100% membership and recruiting at least three new or reinstated members will also receive a 100% banner, and 100% pins for the Post Commander and Quartermaster (if available from National Supply). Individual recruiters will receive the State Commander’s pin and tie bar.

 

Post Divisional Awards

A Department plaque will be awarded to one post in each Membership Division which shows the largest numerical gain over their June 30, 2010 Department membership report as of May 4, 2011 and has submitted both Community Activity Reports by the due dates and the post has been inspected.  The award will be given to the Post, not to an individual.

 

Life Member Recruiter Award

For each new or reinstated life member signed up between July 1, 2011 and May 4, 2012 the recruiter’s name will be placed in a drawing for a $150.00 gift  certificate from the V.F.W. Emblem and Supply Catalog.   New Life Member is one who has never been a V.F.W. member & joins as a life member Reinstated Life Member is one whose 2011 annual dues were not paid and becomes a member in good standing by paying a life member fee rather than annual dues.

 

Individual Life Membership Award  

Each member recruiting ten (10) new or reinstated life members between  July 1, 2011 and May 4, 2012 will receive a Life Membership lapel pin. To qualify, complete the form on page 16 and submit it to Department Headquarters.

 

Post Life Membership Award  

One Post in each membership division  (as listed on page 16 ) that reports the most  New and Reinstated Life Members between  July 1, 2011 and  December  31, 2011, will be placed in a drawing to receive a special award to be announced by the Department Commander. The tie breaker will be the highest membership percentage.

Big Ten 100% Membership Award  

The Big Ten Posts are those Posts with at least 500 members who have reported 100% membership as of  May 4, 2011 based on the June 30, 2010 National Membership Report and have been inspected and have submitted both Community Activity Reports by the due dates will receive a specially designed Department plaque.

All State Team of Post Commanders and Quartermasters

Each member of the All State Team of Post Commanders will receive an All State Team  Post Commander’s Cap, and $70.00 to help defray expenses of attending the Department Convention. Being cognizant of the important role of the Post Quartermaster in membership, the All State Team of Post Quartermasters who served the Commanders making the All State Team of Post Commanders, will receive an All State Post Quartermaster’s cap, and $70.00 to help defray expenses of attending the  Department Convention. The All State Post Commanders and Quartermasters must be present at the Department Convention to receive the cash award.  Post Commanders and Quartermasters will be required to personally pick up and sign their own vouchers at the Department Convention.

VFW ALL AMERICAN PROGRAM

OVERVIEW:  All American status is designed to recognize outstanding units and is based on participation in VFW Programs as well as membership gains by Posts, Districts and Departments.   Deadline for completion of all criteria is May 31, 2011.

ALL AMERICAN POST REQUIREMENTS

1. Programs – must accomplish all of the following: Voice of Democracy – a minimum of one entry advanced to District judging** ( Overseas Post donate $25.00 to National) Patriots Pen – a minimum of one entry advanced to District judging ** (Overseas Post donates $25.00 to National) 

National Citizenship Education Teacher Award – one entry advanced to District judging ** (Overseas Post donate $25.00 to National)  

2. Buddy Poppy: Purchase a minimum of Five (5) Buddy Poppies per member  

3. National Military Services: Hold a fundraiser with the proceeds going to National Military Services

c. Increase membership by meeting your assigned membership quota

ALL AMERICAN DEPARTMENTS REQUIREMENTS

Programs – must accomplish all of the following:   Voice of Democracy – an entry advanced to National judging   Patriot’s Pen – an entry advanced to National judging

National Citizenship Education Teacher Award – an entry in all three     categories (Grades K-5, 6-8, 9-12) advanced to National judging

National Military Services Complete Following:   Must have a Department fundraising event for a National Military Services Program ** (Non-reimbursable minimum of $500 or donate $500 to the program)

National Veterans Service:    DSO must have conducted annual training for Post Service Officers.   All Post and District service officers to be notified and encouraged to participate   Appoint a Women’s Veterans Chairperson   Increase in membership

1,000 Member Award  

The Commander and Quartermaster of each post having 1,000 members or more which reports 100%  membership as of  May 4, 2012 based on the June 30, 2011  National Membership Report and has been  inspected and has submitted both Community Activity Reports by the due dates will receive a Cross VFW Pen and Pencil set.

Perpetual Life Membership Charter Award  

Upon the request of a post, the State Commander will present a perpetual Life Membership Charter earned during the current membership year 2012. The award recipient will receive a $100 gift certificate from the VFW Emblem and Supply Catalog. Only one award per reporting period will be given per organizer regardless of the number of posts formed or restructured.

National Deputy Chief of Staff Conference requirements for National Deputy Chief of Staff to receive travel and per diem they must have at least 15 new or reinstated members, documentation of a new or restructured post or Organize and participate in one District Recruiting Program before October 1, 2011 . Organize and participate in one District Recruiting Program before March 1, 2012 to receive the Fall and Spring Conferences respectively.

NEW POST COMMANDERS AWARD

The Post Commander of any new Post chartered during the 2011-2012 membership year that obtains a membership of 50 new or reinstated members by May 4, 2012 will receive a Life Membership in the VFW and a Life Member cap. This number 50 includes the 25 needed for charter.

 

All State Team of County Council Commanders

County Council Commanders who have performed the following requirements by May 4, 2011 will receive an All State Commanders Cap.

Reported to the Department Headquarters membership equal to or greater than their June 30, 2011 Department membership.

Have 90% of their Post Inspected and the Completed Inspection Report received by the Department Inspector.

 

County Council Captain of the All-State Team

Understanding the hard work that is involved in reaching All State and the disparate sizes of the various Councils, there will be a Captain and a Co-Captain of the All State Team. The All State Commander who achieves the highest percentage will be named Captain, and the All State Commander who achieves the highest numerical gain over their June 30, 2010 totals will be named Co-Captain. The All State caps presented to them will denote this status. Should a single Commander attain both high percentage and high numerical gain, there will be only one Captain and no Co-Captain.

 

County Council Commander’s Conference Requirements

TO RECEIVE MILAGE AND PERDIEUM FOR THE CONFERENCES

 Fall Conference  > 85% Membership by October 15, 2011-per National Memstats                              > 90% Post Inspections October 15, 2011-per Department Memstats   Spring Conference > 95% Membership by March 1, 2012 -per National Memstats > 95% Post Inspections March 1, 2012 -per Department Memstats

 

All State Team of District Commanders

Each District Commander whose District attains 100% of its June 30, 2011 membership total as of May 4, 2011 will be awarded a distinctive All State District Commander VFW Cap. The Commander will be awarded a State Commander’s watch if District gets to 100% by April 30, 2011.

 

District Captain of the All State Team

Understanding the hard work that is involved in reaching All State and the disparate sizes of the various Districts there will be Captain and Co-Captains of the All State Team. The All State Commander who achieves the highest percentage will be named Captain and the All State Commander who achieves the highest numerical gain over their June 30, 2011 totals will be named Co-Captain. The All State caps presented to them will denote this status.  Should a single Commander attain both high percentage and high numerical gain, there will be only one Captain.

 

District Membership Chairman Award

Recognizing the valuable contribution made by the District Membership Chairman, the Department will award a $100 gift certificate from the VFW Emblem and Supply Catalog to each District Membership Chairman whose District Commander receives the All State District Commander’s Award.

 

District Early Bird Award

Any District that reports 100% membership as of the dates shown below based on its membership as of June 30, 2011 and reports 90% of Posts inspected will receive the State Commander’s Special Incentive Award.  These awards are presented at the State Convention and are awarded to the District, not to an individual.

All State Post Commanders and Quartermasters Requirements  

Minimum Requirements: 1 A post must report, and have three new or reinstated members and 100% membership as of May 4, 2011 (As recorded at Department Headquarters and compared to National’s June 30, 2010 Membership Report). 2 Community Activity Reports for May 01, 2010 to October 31, 2010 and November 01, 2010 to 30 April 2011 must be received at Department Headquarters prior to November 15, 2010 and May 4, 2011 respectively. 3 Post must be inspected prior to April 30, 2011 and the Completed Inspection Report received by the Department Inspector prior to May 4, 2011. 

 

Points:

  *  500 Points for each member attending the 2011 State OTI in   Binghamton NY   *    500 Points for each member over 100%.

*    500 Points for each new member or reinstated member (annual or life).

*    500 Points for every 500 poppies ordered from Department of New York

*    500 Points for contributing to State Commander’s Special Project

*   2000 Points for turning in all trustee reports

Total point accumulation will be used to determine which Post Commanders will receive the All State Awards once the minimum requirements have been met.  The total number of All State Awards may be limited to 100 and may be allocated to each Membership Division.  If not enough posts qualify in a Division, the Commander may allocate the unused awards to other Divisions.  If many more posts qualify, additional cap awards will be considered.

 

WOMEN VETERANS RECRUITMENT AWARD SPECIAL DRAWING AT STATE CONVENTION  

For every three (3) eligible Women Veterans a Post signs up between July 1, 2011 and May 4, 2012 that Post will be entered in a drawing for $150.00. These drawings will be District designated. Example if a Post signs up six (6) new members that Post will be entered two times Etc, Etc. There will be only one winner per District.

 

INDIVIDUAL WOMEN’S RECRUITER AWARD

A Special Award will be presented at the State Convention of $250 to the VFW Member that recruits the highest number of eligible Women Veterans. This award is for the Individual that recruits the most Women Veterans  from July 1, 2011 and May 4, 2012. (In the event of a tie the recruiter names will be  placed in a drawing for this award).

New Post Organizer Program

 A special men’s quartz watch will be given to the organizer of a new Post Charter or evidence of a Restructured Post. Proof must be received by the Department Chief of Staff between July 01, 2011 and October 31 2011.  The award recipient may elect to receive a $100 gift certificate.  

For any new Post chartered or a Post that has restructured and reported to the Department Chief of Staff between November 01, 2011 and January 31, 2012. The award recipient will receive a $100 gift certificate from the VFW Emblem and Supply Catalog. Only one award per reporting period will be given per organizer regardless of the number of posts formed or restructured.  

Any Post Organizer who has organized at least two new or restructured Posts will be invited to attend the State Convention and will receive mileage reimbursement (at the Department rate), to the Convention plus an expense allowance not to  exceed $70 per day.
